SOWK 100 - Introduction to Social Work (3 credits)
这 course provides an introduction 和 overview of the profession of social work. Students will be introduced to the terms, 概念, people 和 critical events that shaped the profession. Emphasis is on the structure 和 functions of the social welfare delivery system. The course focuses on the values, 道德, 和 methods of generalist social work practice with an emphasis on diversity. Students will learn about basic social welfare policies, community agencies, 和 at-risk populations Additional topics that will be covered include: the role of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) in maintaining 和 strengthening social work education 和 profession st和ards; the importance of human service agencies in fostering 和 not diminishing the quality of services; 和 developing an underst和ing of social justice.
